Reach Robotics - Next Generation Gaming

Reach Robotics is bringing us the future of GamingTech. The startup are combining Augmented Reality (AR) and robotics with gaming, and creating a whole new realm of possibilities.

Founded in 2013 and based at the University West of England (UWE), Reach Robotics are creating a “next-generation robotics platform” that uses AR technology to enhance and expand upon the gaming experience.

Their first product, a battle bot called MekaMon, connects to a freely available iOS & Android app, enabling customers to game both virtually and physically in either single player or battle mode. The bot is customisable, and the AR universe it roams in is constantly being expanded, so the gaming opportunities are practically endless. Importantly, the software-enabled hardware can track how the robots are used - meaning Reach will be able to adjust and improve their products based on consumer wants and needs.

In June of this year the startup attracted £5.8m in funding from multiple sources, including lead investors iGlobe Partners and Korea Investment Partners. This summer Reach Robotics globally shipped their first 500 MekaMons to early registered customers - this, along with the investment funding, is being put towards a rapidly expanding team and further expansions to the robots and universe.
